Do universities care how many schools you've transfered from prior?

If I were to attend 2 different universities before transferring to my 1st choice school, would that look bad on my application? The main reason isn’t anything shady or weird, it’s just that I might need to attend community college before transferring to a 4-year, and then ideally transferring from a regular 4-year to one of my 1st choice 4-years (the final transfer would ideally occur during/before the last 2 years of my degree).
I’m moreso just worried that having attended two different schools and then transferring to the third might make it look like I’m not serious about schools and can’t make up my mind. Is this generally how this situation would be viewed or do most universities not care how many schools you’ve attended before transferring to them?

It may raise an objection or it may make you stand out, it all depends upon your resume and adcom’s positive impression of your struggles. However, there is a certain number of on campus credit hours required by every school in order to be eligible for their degree.

There is some sort of new initiative in top colleges for enrolling community college students. You should look at websites of your dream school and also call them to understand their policy. You can directly be accepted there after CC.

@CupCakeMuffins That initiative sounds fascinating. That makes sense, thank you!

Why not just attend a community college until you transfer to your desired four year school?

@Lorenne I did exactly this CC>state school> admission at Yale/Stanford and 7 others…I left my CC after one yr for a 3 yr so that I could take pre-med courses at a University (med schools care about stupid stuff like this). I had a 4.0 and my transfer essays spoke to how I wasn’t being challenged at my new 4 yr school. It appears it worked out just fine for me, and I know of others who have done similar
