I know that all require tax return form. Do all colleges require bank statements too? Some colleges require bank officials’ signature in their fin aid forms to proof that I have money claimed. What if my family savings are all in cash (banknotes)? Should I put it all into a bank?
Are you American or international?
If you are an international student, you will need to complete a certification of finances that shows that your family has the necessary resources to pay your net costs to attend college here. This could include providing bank documents to support this.
We are not international…when my kids attended Boston University in 2003, we were selected for verification. We were asked to provide bank statements as part of the documentation they requested. I don’t think they do that anymore…
Best bet…contact each college and ask.
Your bank statements are NOT part of your financial aid application submissions. But they might be asked for (as for international students) or if selected for verification.
