Do you actually enjoy your classes/activities?

It seems that a lot of people on here only care about taking the most amount of AP classes or building up their transcripts with extracurricular activities they don't really care about or even like.

For me, I honestly find all subjects interesting (I like learning for the sake of learning), but if I had to choose, I'd say that math and science interest me the most, while writing and art come in a close second. I'm actually really excited about the classes I'll take next year because I'll get to learn things in depth AND get extra GPA points to boot (the only thing I hate is that I won't have any room in my schedule for AP Art.... sigh. As much as I want to take it, my core classes come first, and it makes me sad that I won't have room for an art class until senior year).

What about you? Are there certain things you absolutely hate, but you do them anyways?

Haha, there are some things I hate and I don't do 'em, which has screwed me over for scholarships (ECs count for next to nothing when it comes to actual university admission here in Canada).
But I love some of my classes, and I sort-of-like-but-tolerate others because they come with the whole IB package and I wouldn't be able to take the classes I actually like without the ones I don't =)
But I do also like learning in general :)

i dont like learning for the sake of memorizing..
i enjoy learning from history channel documentaries much more than learning in the classroom

Same here. ^

School learning: pure **** that I will never need, nor do I care to learn.

I find things like the history, discovery, and travel channels pretty interesting but I don't find history, science, and social studies classes interesting at all.

All of my true education is done outside of school. I enjoy my activities, otherwise I wouldn't do them.

We don't have the privilege of choosing all our classes (Indian system).
We choose streams with predetermined subjects and study the same subjects for 2 years.
I'm therefore forced to study physics even though I loathe it. I like all my other classes though.

I'm with vin09 and Co

I really like some of my classes, but many of them just feel completely pointless to me. I wish school was based more on what you want to do/ will use in the future instead of a bunch of BS classes.

I love you guys.

When I told my friends I was adding a 3rd language my junior year, they just gave me this face .

First of all, the culture gap. I'm black, Korean is Korean. But after a trip Winter 2006/2007 to Vietnam (for reasons my mom will never be able to explain clearly) and two stops on the flight there and back in Incheon, I felt that if I got intrigued by this culture but let my interest slip away I could never forgive myself.

Over in Korea and Japan, literacy for their home languages is 100%. The people you guys talk about who appear on CC and just juice their academic profiles with EC steroids for colleges are ten-fold over there. At least the slackers in our culture allow the overachievers to relax. The slackers in their culture are treated like slackers.

But the fact that they speak English fluently in order to have good business careers involving international work but that most stupid American teenagers only do for. lang. cause its required by whatever school system they fall over, its a joke. I said I would overcome that fallacy while continuing Spanish for a 3rd year.

I understand the psychology around getting into a good school but you guys have it down. We all should try to make ourselves look better but not at the expense of the fun of learning. Some of those who just cram and can't think for themselves have serious problems getting jobs out of grad school because they aren't creative enough to be innovative with their 200K undergrad and grad degrees. There are somethings to put up with but not as a means to the end.

I treat my transcripts as personal assessments, not job applications.

Hope you all love this reading, I enjoyed typing it.

Yes, I enjoy everything I do/take. The only thing I've dreaded (newspaper) was dropped this year. The only classes I don't like are AP Bio (I like the material, but not the work load) and required classes (PE and Lit).

I enjoy most of my classes. I find AP Biology boring, though--I like biology as a subject, but my teacher is so dull. I absolutely love my AP Psychology online class. Just reading and tests and mock-labs, and the readings are fascinating.

I like some of my classes. I love to read but I just absolutely hate my english class year. It's just so hard compared to my past honors english. I don't enjoy analyzing Walt Whitman's every word and can't really thing abstractly about literature. and i've never like history... but I LOVE my math class (Honors pre calc) and would still take honors if my grades didn't matter. I love my honors physics class and i only took honors because i was bored in regular chem last year not because of how it looks for colleges.

I enjoy most of my classes, especially History and English, and most of the electives I take. I dislike Math but I'm not dropping it, and it depends on the science. I hated Biology but like Chemistry a bit. I also like Spanish.

I absolutely hate my Religion class this year, though I loved it last year. There's nothing I can do about it, regardless of whether I like it or not-it's required.

If grades didn't matter I'd still be taking English, History, and Spanish as well as a handful of the electives my school offers.

I hate my classes with a passion; all are ib/ap yet incredibly easy. They are boring and the only times i get Bs are because i don't do the busy work. The only thing i enjoy about school is seeing my friends, but if i had a choice i'd opt out because it is a waste of my time. Also, I teach myself better than any of my teachers would be capable of....

I love school - frankly learning the truths about the universe can enliven anyone's heart. I disagree that the academics in school are "bs", if you go to a good school then you have to be an anti-intellectual [perhaps self-defining] to dislike such.

Academics are wonderful. Throwing away one's ignorance and foolishness is a wonderful feeling.

Oh, one class that I despise though; art. By god, the most painful class I've taken in my life, I'd seriously fall into depression if I took it during college. Even Calculus and taking SAT's are much more fun!

I make it a point to take at LEAST one "no brainer" class or a class I really like every year.

This year, I happen to at least somewhat enjoy all of my classes. My schedule:

Period 0: Vocal Ensemble (early, but a fun class and we're going to San Francisco soon ^_^)
Period 1: Government (best teacher EVER, and we're his last year)
Period 2: Bible As Literature (really interesting class, we just finished a Mock Trial)
Period 3: Philosophy (by far my least favorite class, but it's fun sometimes.
Period 4: Concert Choir (I don't like it as much as I used to, but I sit right next to my best friend so it's bearable.)
Period 5: Teacher's Aide (my FAVORITE teacher ever, so I absolutely adore this class. Quite possibly my favorite, except that the kids never shur their darned mouths.)

I only take/do things I like.

Next year my school is offering a Philosophy class and I plan on taking it-I really enjoy what Philosophy involves.

Oh yeah Art Education...how could I forget that nasty class!
The teacher assigned us some drawing and when I showed it to her the next day, she bellowed (in front of my whole class):
"Even a 4 year old kid could draw better!" :D
