Just wondering because our school did a study, and over half the AP students cheat more than once a week. It seems awfully high to me, but I dunno.

I have cheated before, but it’s not something I do regularly.

I can’t recall anytime I looked at another students work for answers. More so if we were working in a group, a few times I can remember splitting up answers.

Nope. I personally can’t stand people who cheat on things, especially on tests that I spend hours studying for.

i dont cheat, but i dont stop others from cheating, the way i look at it is that why should i care if they are screwing themselves up.

That seems low actually

What’s your definition of cheating? I don’t cheat on tests but occasionally I’d ask for an answer or two on homework maybe.

We cheat all the time…but it’s not really hardcore cheating. Everyone does it. Classes that took the test earlier in the day will tell you how it was, what some of the answers are, what some of the questions are and what the hard ones are, etc. We look at each other’s tests and even tilt the answer sheet towards a friend in need, we keep our books on the floor open to a page that might help us answer a few questions, we even just straight up collaborate with each other when the teacher is being asked a question by another student. This is so common that it’s almost a part of high school. High school isn’t always about what you learned, it’s about how you got it done… and that’s life sometimes unfortunately. I’m obviously exaggerating a little bit on how often kids at my school cheat but I mean it’s far from rare.

^ sorry, but not everyone does those things. I don’t doubt that it’s common in your high school, but that’s not how it is everywhere. Just FYI.

Hmm…now that I think about it, I do “cheat” in a way…nothing major, like I would never cheat on a test, but I do collaborate with my friends on HW sometimes or busy work during class, and everybody always asks people from earlier periods how the test was and what questions were on it.

What really annoys me is when those stoned jocks try to cheat off me in class. Now, that’s what I call cheating.

“Classes that took the test earlier in the day will tell you how it was”,
- Yes
“what some of the answers are, what some of the questions are and what the hard ones are, etc.” - No
“We look at each other’s tests and even tilt the answer sheet towards a friend in need, we keep our books on the floor open to a page that might help us answer a few questions, we even just straight up collaborate with each other when the teacher is being asked a question by another student.” - Nope

I’ve never cheated but friends have cheated off me and I sort of let them because u know that if you say “Stop it, don’t cheat” the teacher will catch YOU instead of the other person and think YOU cheated so you’re screwed

^ Also, when we do group exams (lol) although we only get a partner to do it, all of us in the class end up sharing the answers

^ That happens when we have group tests too.

This.

Not so much quiz/test answers though. More like types of questions and how many were hard.

And also:

-What wasn’t on there that we were told to study
-the format
-how many versions of it there are
-things they couldn’t figure out when they took it

My whole AP history class basically shares everyone’s workbook answers. We all have ones we don’t know that someone else does, so it ends up traveling down the whole ring until everyone has the answers they’re missing.

No one I know actually really cheats during assignments…like typing notes in their TI-83 or writing stuff on their hand or slipping in a note page into their blank sheets. We just like to talk. =P

I cheat, and still get the same grade as a person who studied hours

Our school has a zero tolerance rule for cheating, so teachers make us stand up an empty folder on our desk to block our answers from everyone else.

For APUSH, we are assigned terms every day, and we always share answers the period before.

We’re (as a grade) also fond of the “What do I need to know for the test?” routine, but occasionally you’ll get a hypocrite who doesn’t feel that it’s right, yet asks you for answers for another class. roll eyes

Sometimes I let people cheat off of me. Other times I tell them I don’t know the answer, either, just so they’ll leave me alone.

Yeah, I’ll tell the answer for an assignment for a friend. But if I don’t like the person and they ask, I resort to “I dunno”

It all depends on a person’s definition of cheating. One way (considered by some people) is the “What did you get/How hard was the test” question.

I personally don’t cheat and people tend to hate me for it. If they ask me for the answer, I open the book for them and show them where the answer relatively is and they’re always like, “You’re going to make me read? You suck.”

It’s all fair-fair for me though. I’ll never ask them for a question (because I don’t trust them academically) so I shouldn’t answer their’s.

Anyway…I only ask the “What did you get” question to people who have already taken the test (non-cheating) and I always answer “How hard was the test” with, “Oh, it was easy,” mostly to spite them.
