Do You Commute to College, If Yes Then How?

So I’m a sophomore in college and have been commuting from home. It takes about an hour to reach and has gotten kinda irritating because of the folks I go with. Was just looking for people in a similar situation.
I’m really considering driving myself to college on my own, yeah I guess some folks might ask me if they can come with me. Which I don’t want them to, because I hate them. lol.

I will be commuting! Also roughly an hour drive to college from my home. Classes don’t start for several weeks and it already feels daunting, however, dorm living is out of the question for me since I have a husband and young son.

I used to take the train when going to college, and then I got my car.

Do you live on campus or off campus?

I commuted. And for one semester I offered a ride to someone I knew, another semester I drove a former high school classmate home twice a week after a late class-- it was nice having company as I walked to my car in the dark anyway.

Beyond that though, this is YOUR decision. If people ask for a ride, you can say you prefer to drive alone. No one can force this decision on you.

Back in my era, I had to walk 6 miles each way through the snow going uphill both ways.

In actuality, I took the El train/subway to DePaul, either took 30 min from door to door or 50 min door to door depending on which campus.

I live off-campus, it’s about an hour of a drive.

I took the public bus, then after class, I would take the subway into Manhattan to work a few days a week. Another year, I took the subway to work and then took the subway to school for night classes after which I took the bus home. Occasionally, on Mondays one year, when I went to school from 9 - 9, my boyfriend, who took the subway to work, loaned me his car. I commuted to law school in a similar manner.

I drive 45 minutes. What I do is try to get all classes scheduled for maximum of 3 days so I don’t need to that way so often.
