My tour guide, though a very student, gave my group the idea that A’s were very possible at Muhlenberg, regardless of your class, as long as you reached out for help. They also brought up how Muhlenberg was a “happy school”, a quality that isn’t negative or at all a bad thing, however they did not speak much about their courses. Though they mentioned the many, and I mean MANY, resources for help, from professors and students helping you in the library on any paper, or being tutored by a student who had taken the course and passed with an A- or higher in the Student Center, my tour guide touched more upon social life, such as how the school rents out local dance clubs every weekend. Don’t get me wrong, the social life and involvement of students in Muhlenberg was impressive and exciting, except I’m not exactly sure how rigorous the courses they offer are.
The courses are plenty rigorous. Take a look at the acceptance rates for Med schools, Law schools and other pre-professional programs and you will see what others feel about the rigor of Muhlenberg’s classes and the types of students who graduate from Muhlenberg. Help is available for those who need it and take the initiative to reach out to get it. For those who don’t need it, maybe they will volunteer to help those that do require some assistance. Tour guides often try and touch on the topics that they think will appeal to group. Next time you find yourself on a tour and are concerned about course rigor, ask them to speak to your concerns. Best of luck to you!
Muhlenberg is most definitely academically challenging. If you want A’s you are going to work your tushie off for them. No joke. The kids who get all A’s are studying-- a lot!!
