Do you get finaid information on the waitlist?

One of my friends asked if I would stay on the list if my top school waited listed me. I wasn't sure, and I eventually thought, yes, I would, because financial is a huge part of my decision and my top school gives good aid.

But I'm not sure if that even makes sense. Do you get financial aid proposals if you're waitlisted? Or are you just blind as to what you'll get? Do you just get nothing?

If you get off the waitlist, they should tell you what your financial aid would be if you said yes. You then have the option of accepting the place in the class or not; staying on the waitlist does not obligate you to go there if they call you. It doesn't obligate you to do anything.

However, I believe that those accepted off the waitlist may in fact get less aid than they would have had they been accepted outright, because there's less money left in the pot by then.

You'd just have to wait and see. But you don't have to say Yes, I'm coming to your school until you know whether you're getting sufficient aid.
