Do you guys think I can get in to Columbia?

OK so my SAT scores are not that great, with a 630 in CR, 730 in math, and 700 in writing.
But I have a 115 in the TOEFL (120 is full marks) which is really good.

I'm also a student with a diverse background: I was born in Canada, grew up in Hong Kong in an international school, then moved to a Beijing boarding school for 3rd grade, and then to the US for high school. So I'm fluent in Chinese and English..

And I really really like Columbia, I've done a lot of research, and it just suits me perfectly. I like intense academics, I like reading and writing. I also dance (got in the school dance team and choreographed a solo...), play the piano pretty well (got some awards), and am involved in multiple activities....

Do you guys think I have a shot??? I'm thinking about ED??? But I'm having self doubts because of those SAT scores...

The best thing you can do is apply ED and see what happens. Yes, your SAT scores are lower than the majority of applicants, but adcoms may see something in you through your essay, or letters, etc. Do you have any other EC’s?

If you think Columbia is a good fit for you and your finances permit it, it would be in your best interest to apply ED. If you get in, that’s great; if not, you can always apply elsewhere. There’s certainly a predicted rise in apps this year because of the Common App, but it can’t hurt for you to apply. Best of luck

It’s obvious that the odds are against you unfortunately (Columbia’s SAT ranges rose again this year!), but what kind of piano awards? And what kind of multiple activities?
If you’ve won some national music awards or dedicate yourself to that kind of extracurricular activity, you may still have a shot.
