I don't really get the pont of it. Yea I guess famous people use it because it lets twitter users know what stupid thing they're going to do next. Yea I understand people FOLLOWING CERTAIN people for important updates but just the average person tweeting what the heck they are up to just doesn't really make any sense for me? Nobody is going to follow you...

“just the average person tweeting what the heck they are up to just doesn’t really make any sense for me? Nobody is going to follow you…”

It’s not all about e-fame… I use it to connect with a lot of my friends. It’s also very useful when you follow your favorite people/organizations. I can open up twitter and go to my feed to find a lot of useful tidbits from my local news station, my celebrity crush, or my favorite website.

I mean isnt it better to use facebook to talk/connect with your friends? You are telling the whole world where/ what you are doing if you use twitter.

Ditto everything that Tigerb said.
OP, you’d be surprised how many followers an average person can acquire on twitter. Saying “Nobody is going to follow you” is kind of an ignorant statement, no? Plus, the trending topics (especially in my city) are interesting.

I love tweeting. I only get on Facebook to post random YouTube videos, etc.

"I mean isnt it better to use facebook to talk/connect with your friends? You are telling the whole world where/ what you are doing if you use twitter. "

You’ve obviously never used twitter.

I’ve only made three tweets over the past three months but that is sure as hell more status updates than I have made on Facebook in three years. I feel more comfortable making status updates with my My 10 followers (real life friends) on twitter rather than all my Facebook friends. I use FB more as a tool to stay in contact, groups, etc.

That said I rarely use it and don’t read other peoples updates. I use it whenever I want to get something off my chest. And it is private so only those that send a follow request can see… not the whole world.

Twitter is easier than facebook, and I actually follow people I care about, unlike all the people on my facebook from middle school that I never talk to.

I feel as if Twitter is the more urban version of facebook. Another plus is that it doesn’t have the adds, the events, the pictures, the video, and the profiles to complicate the process.
