<p>I wouldn't consider dating in high school... If you do, you're likely to make choices based on your relationship. What happens if your girl or boyfriend goes to a different college than you on the opposite side of the country? Maybe he isn't as bright as you are and goes to a school that has lower standards. You'll likely try to go to his school just because he's there. Who knows if he'll change? Maybe things won't work out right, and then your education is messed up. From my experience high school relationships are not real, and bound to end and cause both to feel bad. Worry about making long lasting friends in high school, not 3 week relationships.</p>
<p>fevold most people do not pick colleges based on where their boy/girlfriend is going. Im just saying date for the experience at least, have a fun and innocent relationship...</p>

I agree. My gf's heading to CA for college, and I'm staying in NC for college. </p>
<p>I think it's difficult to really balance school and relationships, though...that's why almost no one in IB has relationships. :D</p>
<p>I don't think that dating in high school should be like, banned, or looked down upon, because as other ppl have stated, its experience for the real world. However, as depressing as this sounds, most high school relationships dont last past high school (or even in). </p>

<p>That's ridiculous, most of the honors kids in my class (2008) have a gf or bf. A lot do, by majority...Even more interesting, is that they like to party a lot. *what would suck is to have same class periods with your gf/bf.&</p>
<p>Yea, a lot of ppl in my honors class (also '081) have a g/f or b/f. thing is, most of their relationships havent lasted past, like, 7 months. I only know of one person who's relationship lasted over a year. idk why really..short attn spans or boredom or something, but none of them have lasted or gone over too well.</p>

<p>Just because a relationship isnt meant to be long lasting doesnt mean that it is a waste... Some people like to feel good and have fun, what is the problem with that? Most of us here are not naive and we know that most high school relationships are not meant to last.</p>

but i really meant that theyre pretty heartless. I usually don't have emotions, but boys bring em out. So I'm gonna try getting some hotties to give me some lovin' without worrying that Im gonna get tied down and all into it and then cry when i get dumped.</p>
