Do you have a criminal record?

Hi all,

I'm a senior at Princeton University, and I'm writing my thesis about the barriers to college enrollment that are faced by people with criminal records.

I have done a number of interviews with university admissions officers to get a sense of how they evaluate applicants who have criminal records, but now I want to look at the other side of the story: to write about the barriers to admission from the perspective of the applicants themselves.

Have you or anyone you know applied to college with a criminal record? Do you feel that the criminal record played a role your decision of how or where to apply? Do you feel that it impacted whether you were admitted or not? If so, I would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you and to hear your story.

Feel free to post here, and I will get in contact with you. Thanks so much for your time!

I know this doesn’t exactly reply to the “criminal” part but it does have to do with barriers to admission. I was dismissed from Johnson and Wales University in RI and it’s been a pretty hectic ride from there. I’ve been evaluated separately from other applicants by a judicial board, rejected from a university because of their admissions policy and have to go that much farther to prove to university’s that I’m eligible. Email me to find out more i’ll be happy to provide info. Stewj90@gmail.com
