I didn't know it will be this hard! I have a 3.1 GPA junior standing Chemical Engineering major from a good engineering university in California. I have applied to over 20 companies online and there is still no response.

I've already had 3 "no" responses from teams in the NFL and I have an interview with a minor league baseball team on Thursday. If that doesn't pan out, then I will likely be staying home and working at a fitness center/PT clinic where I've been working and helping in the weight room at the high school. So almost creating my own "internship" here at home.

surprisingly, it was not hard for me to find an internship. Basically, i have a relative who knows the ceo of j crew and so i got an offer to go there for a bit over the summer (for marketing and promotion), but then i have another relative who knows the head anchor at a news station in san francisco, and so i have an opportunity to go there. Now i just have to do decide which to do lol!

Well, I've got an internship with a minor league baseball team for this summer. Also, I will still be able to work at the physical therapy clinic that I have worked at the last two years :)

Just keep trying guys! I applied to about 85 places. I only know for sure that I got one. It's weird because it's the hardest place that I applied to. I found out yesterday that I got it. It literally caught me by surprise. Good luck!!! Keep your faith!!! Stick it out!!! I wish all of you the best

A datum: my D, who graduated last year, was part of a team reviewing applications for summer internships. There were over 500 applications for 10 internships. The internships were not interchangeable, i.e., some slots were looking for some skills/interests/experience, others for a different mix.

The winnowing process was brutal. You needed a 3.7 or better GPA just to have a chance.

I’ve got one offer locked down and I’m waiting for the final word on one more potential offer so that I can decide which one to go with. But what the last poster said was pretty spot on IMO. My GPA is well above a 3.7 and I’m in the second semester of my junior year. I’ve had 8 interviews, 1 solid offer, and 1 “we’ll see what happens with our budget” offer. I applied with +/- 50 companies.
