I was just wondering, I wasn't sure but does West Point require both the ACT and the SAT to even compete for admission?

and also, I was wondering if anyone had tips about applying for West Point

No, either SAT or ACT, you do not have to take both. It’s just some folks do better on one test versus the other. It’s just the nature of test-taking.

You’ll have to define what “tips” you might be looking for. First, visit here and read over EVERYTHING: admissions.usma.edu

Then, come back and ask anything that is still a mystery to you.

Tip no 1 - Read all you can on the official website listed above and follow their instructions
Tip no 2 - Do not wait for the deadline to submit your application. Aim to complete it by the end of November of your senior year if possible. You can update your file if things change
Tip no 3 - Be proactive about your application. Follow up and make sure that everything has been received
Tip no 4 - Try and get your medical done as early as possible. This gives you time to get issues resolved if necessary
Tip no 5 - Take the SAT and the ACT multiple times. USMA will use the highest scores from either the SAT or the ACT (but will not mix and match scores from both)
Tip no 6 - Try and visit if at all possible
Tip no 7 -Find out if there is an admissions rep. or MALO in your area who can help guide you

I’m others can add to the list…

Hi, I am applying for west point and I am foreign student living in Cameroon:
in Africa. I have a problem. I’m worried because I have not done my TOEFL test yet and even my SAT, and I would like to know if it can eliminate me.
What should I do??? Thanks for giving me some responses and even solutions.

Usually, you have to be a United States citizen to apply for West Point. There are some foreign students there, who are sent by their home countries by special arrangement. If that is what you want to do, you should be talking to Cameroon’s army authority; they would work with West Point to get you admitted.
