Hi, I was just curious how much people generally like their roommates since I opted for the random roommate assignment.

A list of things I'd like to know:

On a scale of 1-10, what is your relationship with your roommate(s)? (1 being you spend less time in your room just to avoid him or her and 10 being that you are best friends)

How many roommates do you have?

Did you choose your roommate(s) or leave it to chance?

Is having a roommate better or worse than you thought it would be?

random roommate: 6. it's a good deal overall. he does his thing, i do mine. he has decent hours and is pretty friendly and flexible overall. there are a few things he does that i'm not fond of but no ones perfect. we are definitely not friends but we respect each other and its general good.

I would have to honestly say that this little survey is a bit pointless because your roommate is RANDOM. You only get to pick a few select types lifestyles that you would live with (ie. smoker/nonsmoker, drinker/nondrinker, sleep cycle, etc). But I guess I can participate :)

Relationship with random roomates:
1st Year: 9
2nd Year: 3

of roommates:

1st year: 2 (1 random, 1 acquaintance from HS, the random one turned out to be awesome, we're still pals)
2nd year: 2 (1 random, 1 same acquaintance from HS, the random one is terrible)

Choice of roommates:
Explained above I guess.

Having a roommate better/worse than expected:
It honestly is not too bad, even with a "terrible" roommate. As long as your are completely honest and comfortable with the application you fill about about your lifestyle. The application is confidential so don't lie on it (eg. say that you are a neat freak but really aren't, just so that your roommate will be super clean too. Or say that you don't drink but really do) cause it can only hurt you. The worst is that your roommate has a bad attitude or has different interests, but at least he/she won't be completely unbearable.

I would say around an 8 for me. I went random and got pretty lucky. We completely respect each other's privacy and space. No complaints with me. I have heard horror stories though, so it's really the luck of the draw.

first year: 6. random roomies, i was the odd girl out... perfectly nice people but different ways of living/sleeping/eating/having guests over/noise/perfume/etc.

second year: 10!!! cough single cough :)

I've been blessed with the most amazing roommates the last couple of years. I wouldn't have it any other way since we get to pillow talk and ***** to each other and talk about boys and giggle and ****.

I left it to chance; I figured I could hermit-out and talk to them out of necessity. But anyway yeah I love them but I know it's more the exception than the rule to r-mate relationships. :)

On a scale of 1-10, what is your relationship with your roommate(s)? 2 for 1, 3 for the other

How many roommates do you have? 2

Did you choose your roommate(s) or leave it to chance? 1 i went to high school with, the other was a randon

Is having a roommate better or worse than you thought it would be? worse but not b/c of the room but b/c it of the people

Well, one of them is the complete antithesis of me. drug-dealer, filthy, and obnoxiously loud. I have a mental list of grievances if you really want to know.. Oh and gave me freaking bronchitis for 2 months ><

I'm so happy that I've moved out now :D New roommates are awesome and no more walking up the hill. :D

Random question: channel_26, is the channel 26 you're referring to KTSF? :P

Nopee. On my TV, channel 26 is nothing but static. How long did it take for you to switch out of your room (as in from when you submitted the CAR 'till now)?

If it isn't meth or heroin, then it's pretty pointless. He's nickel-and-diming. He's at the bottom of the drug-dealing food chain

Well how should I know? I was never exposed to some much pot in my life.

channel_26: haha in the Bay Area, channel 26 (w/o cable) is an Asian station. :P I submitted my CAR on April 4th, got my answer on the 14th, so 10 long days of anticipation.

mme... u sure about the "best roomies" thing? what about a certain blond who is in my comm studies 10 class... and we are doing the honors section... which is done in groups. we chose groups by raising hand for fave topic. we both raised our hand for the same group... then she quite obviously switched groups hahah ;)
