I am filling up 2 pages going into depth with two examples (and when I am rushing my handwriting is a bit larger than normal, but still clearly legible). Should I work on pacing myself to include a third example or will two in depth examples get me a decent score (obviously this is dependant on the writing). BTW when submitting to the PR Live Grader i usually get around a 10 or 11 but some of the markers say I should include an example and others say if I nail the conclusion down a little better then I will be scoring 6's.

You only need two examples to get a 12.

Two examples is enough. (I used only two when I took the SAT and was surprised to find I received a 12.)

I think 1 even more extended example is better, maybe. If you look at the graded essays, 1 extended example from your life seems to be favored. I got an 11 w/ 1.

I used two and got a shiny 12.

2 and 12, me too.

its fine...

What kind of examples should the 2 be (ideally)? 1 personal and 1 literature? 1 history and 1 literature? What works best?

It really depends on the topic. Given the short amount of time, just pick whichever you know the most. Usually I go with history and literature.

yeah agreed one literature, one personal

it really depends on what you can think of at the time.

A lot of the sample CB essays have only one (albeit very lengthy/developed) example and have received 12's. That said, having two thoughtful well developed examples will increase the likelihood of a twelve, and three even more so.

I use two examples always. Got 12's on two SAT essays.

used 2 and got 11. Quality matters over quantity.

I usually end up with history/literature, but I agree that it depends on what you can think of. It just so happens I think of history/lit more than personal stories, so yeah. If you're there going "I have the perfect personal story, but I want to think of a literature example!!", don't even bother. Just go with the personal story (or vice versa). You have to go with the flow and just write down everything you're thinking because otherwise you won't fill up two pages (I didn't quite).

hm.. i just learned something new

I used 1 extended example (abigail adams' political activism..i'ma try to use that for jan's too lol) and got a 12.

write 2 pages

I use two because you don't even have time to write about three examples. The essay does not have to be a five paragraph essay. In this case, the less examples the better but if you use like one or two examples, then make sure they are very concreate!

I did two and got a 12. Make sure to write a good intro, it'll make up for not having a 3rd example.
