I would like to wait unitl the first day of class to buy books, to see if prehaps the book would change or if it becomes optional. I was wondering if I would absolutely need them by the first day or if I can wait.

No, you don’t. But one professor warned my class in an email that the bookstores purposely never have enough books for students to avoid overstocking anything and if you don’t get them in time, you will have to wait several weeks for a back order.

No, you don’t, but if you don’t want to be raped repeatedly by LSU you really should.

There’s also The Co-Op a little off campus that sells books, so I don’t think anything will be overstocked.

I’d also recommend chegg.com for renting expensive, big textbooks, like biology, chemistry, calculus, etc that you only need for a semester. It’s a rental service that ships you the book, you use it for the semester, then you print out a label and ship it back at the end. I saved $67 yesterday on a Spanish 2155 book.
If you use it, do me a favor and use promo code CC101037… because I told you about it, it’ll let me have $5 off my next order. You can overnight them or get them second day delivered to your dorm too; just put

Name

Dorm Name

Louisiana State University
Baton Rouge, LA 70803

and it’ll be delivered to the front desk of your dorm. Just pay attention to when the tracking says it’s here and then ask the person at the front desk.

I usually only buy the books that I know I’m going to need. I usually ask friends who have taken the course before to see whether or not they used the textbook at all.
