There was this asian girl at the sat center who took the sat 4 times

The first time she got a 2260
The second she got a 2300
The third she got a 2160 (She was sick)
And the fourth a 2300 again

She wants to get a 2400
So this is her 5th time taking it.

What do you think?
..
P.s She was really cute. In a nerdy way. If she didn't go all OCD on the sat I might have asked her for her digits.

If she has not increased her score for 3 consecutive test days, I doubt she can get a 2400. I would never waste that much time. Personally I think it’s ridiculous, but it’s up to her.

This pretty much addresses your question perfectly:

tell her to give up. I mean not everyone can get 2400 like I did on a first try with the swine flu and chicken AIDS.

JK. But the chances of improving on a score that high are nearly impossible. If I were you I would tell her to chill (then get her number hehe)

sad part his my neighbor got a 2400 on his SAT for the March one. It was his first try also. BUT he studied a crapload. he spent alot of his time and I MEAN ALOT.

i am aiming for a 2300 and i am going to study ALOT also.

She must get a 2400. Forget Harvard, Princeton, and Yale! Her life is sooo over! She might have to go to… dare I say… Stanford… or Columbia! Oh My!

To be honest, I think that the fact that she took it four times (going on fifth) “hurts” her more than not getting a 2400. It looks desperate and most colleges look for other things after seeing a 2300+.

P.S.
Her life must be fun.

Do you really need to ask this question?

You don’t NEED a 2400, but if she wants to get that score, it’s her own choice…

A 2400 is absolutely not necessary. I assume her goal is to get into ivy league schools but still, it’s not necessary. There is no doubt that you need a high SAT score to be considered for ivy league, but let’s not forget that the SAT is only one of the many things considered for admission.

Some people are perfectionists and that’s just the way it is. If she ultimately gets the perfect score, good for her. If not, she could end up being extremely frustrated.

The SAT is a performance test and a 2400 sometimes requires an element of luck. We all know that luck doesn’t happen on every test administration.

Do you need a 2400? No.
Does it hurt to have a 2400? No.
Is a 2400 better than a 2390? Yes, albeit marginally.

I have heard two versions of how colleges want to interpret multiple attempts by reps of Harvard and Stanford. They were on a single stage when they addressed the multiple attempt question. The Harvard guy essentially said 3 to 4 times is ok but if the score is not changing much, it is not worth it and if people take more than 3-4 times the adcoms may need to worry about the judgement of the student. Stanford rep, in a retort goes we wont psycho analyze you if you want to take it as many times as you want.
