I'm a tenth grader, hoping to go to a competitive college like Stanford, Yale, Pomona or UC Berekley. Do you think (if I stay on a consistent path) that I have a chance? What would you recommend for me to improve?

Physics B or C
Computer Science
Enviromental Science or Biology

College Classes : Calculus D and Linear Algebra

Ballet student teacher
Accepted (will probably attend) COSMOS UCSC (Chem&Math Cluster)

I want to major in maybe engineering or math. (will being a girl help?)

I go to an academically challenging public high school, I would be able to write decent essays, and I love to learn!

What do you think? Thanks for answering!

your too young. be a kid have some fun come back here when you are a junior

I’m a freshman and I think your GPA is really good and so is your PLAN. If you want to do math/engineering, you should have extracurriculars related to it.

get sats above 2200, its very do-able if you just study and take practice tests.
for your junior year, do something more than cosmos. Cosmos is good for UC admissions, but really there are much better programs out there. Clark scholar, summer research, SSP, RSI, try to apply to those and see what happens. They are all crapshoots, but hey, so are college admissions, might as well try your luck before hand right?

Yes, being a girl in science and eng does help… especially if you apply to The Tech Schools.

Yea, I was thinking of joining math team, and the robotics team next year, for some more academic extracurriculars. and thanks freezingbeast, I will look into those programs for next year. =)

Projected this, projected that. Projections don’t mean crap. Only what you actually DID will decide whether or not you’re competitive.

i know, I am just trying to get a feel for the competitive admissions process. i’m only a sophomore. ;)

It’s great that you’re thinking about college early, but for now, focus more on keeping your grades up and staying involved. You will have a different outlook as a junior and a different outlook as a senior. While looking at colleges now shows that you’re driven, it can also be unnecessarily stressful and speculative, as you don’t have SAT scores or junior year grades yet. Take a breather. Your ambition will still be there in a year.

okay thanks guys. i guess i’ll just wait. =P
