Do you think I could get into any Ivies?

I have a 95% average at an IB school, 760 on my SAT 2 Bio, 650 in SAT 2 Math 1, a 30 on my ACT. I am an active participant in a charity, have been to Kenya with them twice, and a potential member of the Board of Directors. I also row. I am a prefect at school (1/12 elected by students and staff). What do you think? Are there other Ivies I could get into?

Have you considered Cornell? I hear it’s difficult to get into, but if you have strong test scores, a high GPA, and can demonstrate that you’re really driven and passionate then you should definitely try. I don’t know if there are other Ivy League colleges besides that one; I go to a state school in Virginia.

Are you an URM? What’s your class rank? Are you a recruitable athlete?

This is a comical thread…

Anyway, yes, you might have a chance at Cornell or other Ivy League schools, but there are other people who would have better chances. What’s your intended major?

Cornell CAS and Engineering are as selective as Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth and Penn.

To the OP, your essays are very important to the Ivy League. Your GPA is fine, but to have a decent change (relatively speaking because the Ivies are very selective), your ACT should be 32 or better.

Of course, if you can get recruited for rowing, the story changes…

Son had 34 ACT, valedictorian, blah, blah, blah and was waitlisted or rejected at Ivy’s though he didn’t apply to too many of them. Your rowing is your best hook.

Many great schools besides the Ivy’s for you to apply as more realistic reaches. I also second (or third) the vote for Cornell. That is likely your best chance at an Ivy. Obviosuly, we are not admin reps, so you never know. Apply and let us know what happens!!

Good luck to you!

To answer your original question: No, as a matter of fact I don’t.

But hey, I’m just some random, unaccredited guy on an internet message board - my unsolicited opinion is not worth anything. Oh wait…
