Do you think I have any chance at NYU Stern?

I'm from Russia and am currently at a community college in Pennsylvania. Its my first semester and my GPA is 3.25, but for transferrable courses 3.5. I have a 87%B in busienss law 101, C in intermediate alegebra intermediate, A in english comp 101, A in strategic reading remedial. I would love to transfer here its a very good school. I want to get into proprietary trading and I already am in contact with one particular firm, and they said i have a good chance for an intership my junior year, but I do need to transfer to a good school liek NYU, Fordham, DePaul, UIUC, however, they said it dosen't matter what school I go too.

hi! I can’t say whether you’ll get in, but apply and see! I think it really depends. there isn’t a specific act/gpa/etc combination they accept or anything. good luck!!

Your best bet is to apply to those schools and a few safeties. You never know what might happen, either positively or negatively. Also, if you don’t think it really matters what school you go to, I’d say weigh your options and decide on the best school that gives you the most money/best financial aid.

If i were to be frank, I don’t think you should apply to NYU Stern. Stern has high, exacting demands for both grades and SAT scores. If you aren’t getting straight A’s at a community college, your best bet would be to apply to somewhere other than Stern. Search up some second-tier business schools and if you get great recs, then i think you would stand a shot.

To be frank, your stats are a bit low for this school.

Most transfers typically have top GPAs, excellent recommendations, strong writing submissions, and extracurriculars and leadership to boot. Your profile looks a bit weaker than that, so while you ought to still submit an application, I hate to say but you don’t look like you have a strong case.

UIUC does quite well for finance recruiting, it’s a semi-target but you still have OCR. Fordham has nothing at all in terms of finance, and I don’t know much about DePaul.
