Do you think I will be accepted into Carnegie Mellon University?

<p>Hi everyone! My name is Jacob and I'm a senior in high school. This is my first post on this forum and definitely won't be my last.</p>

<p>Let me begin to say that the deadline for early decision for Carnegie Mellon is due in about 7-8 days. I plan to apply early because this is the school that I have my heart set on. Since the only part I have left of the application is a one-page supplement essay, I'm feeling pretty confident. However, I still have my doubts about being accepted. Let me list my achievements first. Also, I'm applying as a Mechanical Engineering major.</p>

<p>I've traveled to the school for an information session, tour of the mechanical engineering department, and interviewed with a representative.</p>

<p>My son was accepted with a lower ACT score and I’d assume fewer APs since his school didn’t offer many. I’d say you’ve got a really good shot! Good luck!</p>

<p>High Match. Will you need financial aid? CMU isn’t that generous in terms of scholarships/financial aid.</p>

<p>I’m not bragging or anything, but I come from an upper middle class family, so I won’t need financial aid from them. I also know that they don’t give out merit scholarships, so I can’t get anything for my ACT score. I’ll probably take out student loans and my parents will help me to pay them.</p>

<p>Great! Try to get third party scholarships tho. Why take out student loans when you can get 3rd party scholarships?</p>
