I think Wes is a reach for you, but not unrealistic. Being first generation will be a big help.

Chance me back? Here:

i think you have a good shot. ;) good luck!

you have a good chance. best of luck

i love you right now for applying regular admissions....

Don't Listen to what others have to say about your scores. Speaking as a current freshman at Wesleyan, as long as you have a really good essay, I'd probably you have a very good chance. It saddens me when people think you are a reach to Wes, there is no such thing in my mind, if you really want it they will make it happen.

Just how could they?

I would send you ACT not your SATs

holy crap, to those people who are saying that you're a reach... is Wesleyan that hard to get in to? I would guess you're a very likely candidate for admission...

MCS: Yes, Wes is selective enough for this it to be a low reach for the OP.

For the class of 2012, the medium SAT for admited students in every section was 720, so the OPs scores are a little low. The OPs unweighted GPA is also just under average according to Princton review (3.77). All this, PLUS ED apps are up like crazy, which means RD apps might be too.

Of course, the OP is also in resonable range, and their ECs are good, so they have a shot. But they are not very likley.

"For the class of 2012, the medium SAT for admited students in every section was 720, so the OPs scores are a little low."

True, but doesn't her high ACT score kinda render that irrelevant?

Ooh I didn't even see the ACT score!! Impressive!

Still a "match" at best, though. Not "very likely". ECs and GPA are average. Like I said before, being first generation will be a big help.

(Note: ZERO offense to the OP. Only at a top school would these amazing stats be "average". They're all really impressive, but admission is tough for anyone at a top school).

Greenlight!

Green light: now begin!

[Anyone?]

really? thanks everyone. i feel like there are so many people with perfect SATs and 4.00 GPAs, and a crapload of ec's and yet they're all like "omg i'm so not getting in"! bah, makes me doubt myself.

If Wesleyan truly has such an individualized admissions process, then these little tidbits of doesn't tell anyone anything.
If it really that simple to guess, or to tell a student, "not very likely" then I am very disappointed in Wesleyan. Wesleyan is my first choice, and I hope that if they choose or reject me, it won't be just because of my test scores. Even though I know the arguments, "Wesleyan looks at more than just scores", on this forum, there is an underlying theme of people themselves not looking beyond their own scores. So, I'm just saying, I think this entire chance thing is bogus. No one should ever actually put weight on this, because at the end of the day, none of these people are on the admissions committee. It also won't help your mental health right now...this will probably just stress you out. I'm looking at this and its not even MY scores and it stresses me out.
I'm kind of disheartened right now.

Niarka--
You're right, looking at "Chances" threads is unproductive and stressful. No one's opinion matters except the admissions committee's. I don't think that means that all the chance threads are "bogus" though -- people are just trying to give others an objective perspective on where they stand. While no one can give a perfect prediction, it is fair to say that someone with lower scores, worse grades, and not many leadership positions has a worse chance of getting in than someone with high scores, great grades, and lots of leadership positions. That's all people are doing.
