Do you think teachers care about their students' AP scores?

My school gives teachers $50 for each student who passes (>=3) and $100 for each 5. It's a public magnet btw.

So... naturally, the teachers care a lot about our scores :-)

froozle, ideally the hope is that they do care. Those who do care use the results of the class to assess how the subject matter was taught, what was working, what improvements could be made, etc. To those who care, a class that performs well considers it as a personal and a professional triumph. To those who care, a class that does not perform well will ask themselves why, and what they can do to make it better. And there will be some teachers, of course, and hopefully they are in the very small minority, who couldn't care less.

Our district gives each teacher $50 for every passing score, so that definitely helps with the caring. It's not a school with very high pass rates, though: the ones that care often still can't teach :)

My AP Chemistry teacher, one of the most apathetic-looking teachers around, was actually one of the teachers with the highest pass rate because of how well he taught the class. A few teachers care a lot, others not too much. Nobody seems to not care at all, though, except for the old AP Government teacher (I really do hate tenure sometimes) who after years they finally transferred the class from to another teacher.

most ap teachers don't care.
my ap gov, ugh, is like easier than regular gov class; well not enough workloads. 60ish students, only 3ish took the exam,i think all 3 failed.
my ap eng, bleh, dont care.
my ap calculus, my teacher does care! our class had afternoon sessions a few times before the exam, and he treat us at a restaurant and stuff.
throughout the year, he thought not many would pass, he 'd be happy even if some people get 2's and passing, instead of 1's .
surprisingly, the class made 5 5 5, 4 4 4's ,3, idk about others.
he was so excited about studnets passing.
this yr he always talked about last yr's students who got 4's , and 3's ,only 1 got a 5. he does care about students' scores =p

few teacher care =/

some of my teachers do....and some don't.

My chemistry told our class that we would all get 1's and 2's on the exam...I got a 5 and he was fired a month before the exam date(he taught us absolutely nothing...it was basically a self study on my part).

haha...

My APUSH teacher said he wanted us all to get 5's or else...(lol). I did indeed get a 5, but so far, I know of three people in my class who received 1's...i wonder what he'll do to them, haha.

My AP teacher completely forgot we even took the test. He never even asked anyone how it went.

actually i hope the school cares about our AP scores because one of my teachers is notoriously bad (and not just be, people in prior years have said this) and if just take a look at her students AP scores, its obvious that the average score will be below average (for the years that shes been teaching) when being compared to the national average...and the thing is all of our other scores for our other classes are above the national average...

and its not like we are bad students...i got 5s on all my other AP tests and 3 on this one...its that she taught nothing related to the topic...had i not self studied a month before, i wouldve gotten a 1...and when we tell her about our concerns for her teaching ability and what shes teaching, she just ignores us and counts us off for bad conduct...yea go figure...

oh by the way she wont care about our AP scores...after all she once remarked..."the point of this AP class is not to prepare you for the AP exam."

Yeah, I think the teachers at my school do care about their students' scores. At least the AP teachers I've had. My English teacher was sorta aloof, but he still cared about helping his students pass the AP English Lang. exam.

yes they care because it shows how theyve taught the material and it also makes them "proud" to say all my kids got a 4 or 5 or whatever etc

some of my teachers are overconfident when they shouldn't be, but i think most of them care
the rest seem more aloof and blow it off, but i think deep down they do care
