Mine do, and it drives me insane, especially when there's nothing to brag about. I'm a very mediocre student (3.3 UW, 3.8 W), probably not going to get into a great college or have a great job, and they still think I'm smart. And then they get offended when I tell them to stop.

Not really, my parents don’t even know. And that’s the way I like it.

My mom photocopies my award certificates and puts them in a binder that she brings around to her colleagues at lunch.

Yeah they do, especially my dad. I mean it’s cool that they’re proud, but sometimes it’s a little much.

my mother likes to do this, and it gets annoying - fast.

My parents like to brag about how bad I am lol

^ They talk about your A-minus in public?

^No… my 2390…

kidding :D

My MOM brags! She makes things out to be a much bigger deal than they actually are.

my parents brag to all of the other baseball players parents. They all get like 2.1 gpas and going to a jc for sure and i have a 4.3 and will hopefully go to berkeley or ucla

^So are you the parent or are you bragging about yourself?

I hate it when they brag about grades.

“My son never brings home homework and always gets straight A’s.”

That’s just…annoying and conceited sounding.

no sorry i wasnt trying to brag. To most people on CC that is below average. I was just giving an example.

I personally hate it when people always say "you’re so smart’ when I do well. I think it stems from elementary school when the teachers were always on me for not putting in enough effort.

Yeah my parents do… I really am tired of it now.

The stuff I bring home and tell them is nothing to brag about.

My dad likes to brag about me. Not so much about academic stuff, except for the fact that I won a scholarship that only goes to one person per state. Or that I’m a senior in my second year of college (which is big since no one in my family graduated high school on time, let alone went to college). I couldn’t even tell you whether or not they knew my GPA or my ACT. To be honest, they didn’t care. Academic stuff wasn’t big to them. They just cared that I did well and had fun.

He more likes to brag about the fact that I am ridiculously mature for my age, studied abroad for free because of scholarships, work in an incredibly high stress job while balancing my over-the-top schedule, work a bunch of jobs so I never have to ask for money, help run a city-wide organization, and yet still find time to do clubs, have a nice social life, etc. That’s what he likes to brag about (he feels proud that he raised at least one kid right… he kind of failed with my big sis). And my dad and I are really close so he tells everyone that I’m his best friend lol.

My mom could care less. She was proud of me the first time I ordered a beer in a restaurant down in Costa Rica (I don’t drink and that makes me the black sheep of the family lmao).

My father does a my-daughter-is-so-smart-but-is-lazy-and-does-no-work-big-sigh thing.

My parents brag about me being good at basketball, except I’m not. I made varsity but chose to play JV so I’m MVP and whatnot, but my parents don’t get that it doesn’t count because it’s JV. It’s super annoying.

I really hate it when my parents are like
“He improved so much from elementary school, when he was smart but lazy” thing.

For one,
Elementary school just evil and the teachers graded unfairly.
Since, the teachers grade fairly, not on whether you suck up.

Yea, my mom kind of does. I just recently won a photo contest, and she’s been telling EVERYONE about it. And she does this for grades too, even though they’re not that great (above average, I guess, but not CC-like).

^^ How does an elementary school kid know how to suck up? o.O
