Do your parents have an influence in your major for college? Did they "force" you to go to this major or they will not pay for it or something of that nature?
My parents are "forcing" me to go into engineering, but I like business and the aspects of it, specifically accounting.
Thoughts?

lol.^ and not at all, now they dont want me to just settle for some crappy community college but theyre lettin me pretty much do any major at any university, except byu (personal choice)

my dad almost did accounting. It was at the last minute that he chose the med-track, so he respects that profession a lot. I’m sorry your parents are like that.

As for me, my #1 major is Econ (with finance, business, accounting, and engineering at other schools).

Engineers can get jobs in business (maybe not accounting, though) so maybe you could stick it out and get a business-related job if you decide to defer to your parents

The reason why I want to go into accounting is specifically job security and they don’t realize it. Money is also good too. Engineering has some age discrimination for older people. So if I do get laid off when I’m in my 50s, I won’t be able to get a job in my field.

My dad thinks my intended major, Anthropology, is a waste of time. But he says he will be fine with it if I take business classes and consider minoring in geology.

I would laugh in my parents face if they tried to tell me what major to take or what college to attend. Conisdering I earned my grades 100% and am paying my way through school 100% I’ll taking whatever I want.

My parents want me to major in something practical, something that can lead to a job. For example, my mom was a psychology major and my dad was an economics major. :

Mine are very supportive of my majors (physics and math) because they
emphasize fundamental skills that apply to everything. Also, even though they support my career aspirations, they like the flexibility I have with my course of study since physics majors can go into pretty much anything from engineering to finance to medicine or law.
