DoDMERB Results a Mixed Blessing?

The results for my medicals were posted on DoDMERB last night as Qualified. However, I was certain that due to my vision it would be listed as waiverable. I am wondering if anyone else has come across something like this before, and what I should do about it. It would kill me to receive an appointment, get there on I-Day and be sent home because the Academy didn't know that I don't have perfect vision.

Ooooh, a big sticky one. I would start with calling dodmerb and asking them.

FewAndProud16,

If you vision isn't worse than 20/40 you are medically qualified. What makes you think that you aren't qualified?

F&P: the only "vision" item tested again on I-Day is for colorblindness....

if that is an issue, get it addressed now-
otherwise, I would not lose any sleep over this one....unless there is more to this than what you have posted...

have you received an appt to USNA yet?

Do they usually send you home on I-day if you fail the colorblindness test? I can't pass the Ishihara(circle with dots) test that they gave for dodmerb, but I passed a different test later and was qualified unrestricted line.

it is my understanding that you must pass the colorblind test... I am not sure which test they use, however....

sounds like this is an issue you might want to address before arriving..... you don't need anything holding you up in medical on I-Day!

They use FALANT for red/green color weakness. If you passed the FALANT before you should have no problems,

Thanks. I passed the FALANT test, so I should be good to go.

Vision is definitely worse than 20/40; not sure the exact numbers, but my prescription stands at +2.50 and +3.00, however that translates.

No appt. yet; navy2010, are you sure that's the only vision test on I-Day? How do they determine your need for the BCU glasses or the prescription strength you need?

^^^^you send your perscription ahead of time with the rest of the paperwork. The BCU are there ready and waiting on IDay. The only vision test is the color test.

How cool is that! A FREE pair of safety specs!!:eek:
