I got my AP European History score today (5), and I was just wondering..would that score be accepted by ANY college. Obviously I would have to be admitted to the school first..but will anywhere take it?

Some schools don’t take credit for certain tests, but if they take it for your test, you can’t get much better than a 5:)

This is a really dumb question…

Any school that will give you course credit for that particular test would accept a 5, but you are probably asking whether all schools give course credit for that test.

I think that the answer is no.

You need to check the policies individually, and they aren’t always easy to find. Sometimes you get placement but no credit, sometimes you get nothing.

The more selective the college, the less likely they seem to be to award course credit by examination for much of anything.

Thank you for the quick responses! Good info to know. Except you pack. Also–is there any way to get a more detailed score? Is there a way to see your score on each section and such?

Not necessarily, for example Pomona College, which we visited recently, gives a maximum of 2 college class credits for APs, regardless of how many APs were taken in High School, even if the test scores are all 5s.

You could hack CB’s computer system.

Nope. Many top colleges either limit how much AP credit you can receive or do not accept credit at all for certain tests (such as Calc AB).

My D had 3 5s and 2 4s and Harvard gave her zero credit ,but she only had to take 1/2 a year of freshman English .

No. 5’s aren’t good enough.

If credit is given for that class then a 5 will get you credit anywhere except the very high ranking schools.

AP classes are designed so that most colleges give credit for a 3.
