I have a D in one of my classes, and I just noticed that the units for that subject -- 3 units -- were included under my UC and CSU total transferable units in my unofficial transcript (with a disclaimer, "Subject to Credit Limitation.") The program advisor highlighted that I have 35 units (including the subject that I had a D on), and I will be needing 25 more to transfer.

I am trying to transfer to a UC, and I am confused if I really need to do 25 units more (including the D) or 28 (sans the D.)

Read the UC transfer pages closely and ask your transfer adviser if you have any questions.

Also there is a separate forum for Transfer questions. In there is a subforum for UC transfers where you might find knowledgeable people. But don’t rely on info from internet boards for important factual stuff.

Thank you very much!

However, I called the UC Admissions, and the representative told me that the D won’t count towards the total transferable units at the end. I don’t know which to trust – the representative or the website.

PS: Sorry for posting at the wrong subforum! I’m new at this, and I was only looking at the Top Forums column.

You should probably assume the information off the official UC website should supersede that of your program advisor at your current institution. From the website it appears that the D will count toward your transferable units so you should only need 25. However, I would double check with someone in one of the UC’s admission offices to verify.

Honestly, just retake the class and you won’t have to worry about it. On the plus side, your GPA will also go up.
