do you get units for D grade?

i got a D last quarter and i was just wondering if i get the units for this class when i transfer? ill have 90.5 units by the end of Spring including this class. So..if i don't get the units, i have to take an extra class on top of my full planned schedule -___-

no you dont get credits for it

There would be no such thing as a 1.0 in terms of calculating GPA if you did not get any unit credit for a D. You are only required to complete the IGETC pattern (or UC course pattern, whichever you are following) with a grade of C or better in terms of being UC eligible.

You just need to make sure you have greater than a 2.4 (2.8 if you are an out of state resident) and 60 semester/90 quarter units as long as all your GE courses (IGETC or UC pattern) are C or better to be UC eligible.

That said, if you have the chance to repeat that grade you received a D in, I would highly recommend it. Depending on your CC’s precise policy, you will most likely still have the same amount of units if you pass it with a grade of C or better, but the new grade will be calculated into your GPA and replace the old one (some CC’s are a little more strict about how many units you can do grade replacement with so it depends if you have done this yet).

EDIT: Forgot to add in this that directly addresses the D grade

well then, how come you dont put D’s on the grid in the UCB update?

This is for UC eligibility, CalBearGuy. And those quotes are directly from the University of California website.

I do not make up the rules for eligibility so if you have grief with the proof that D grades are indeed acceptable to meet minimum unit requirement for UC eligibility so long as the GE/IGETC pattern is completed with a C or better, then take it up with the University of California system, not me. I am only providing the facts as stated.

Just because you don’t like the information does not mean it is false. The OP did not request information for a specific program on a specific campus, but made a general question about eligibility.

If you still believe (despite the glaring proof otherwise) that D’s are not acceptable for meeting the minimum unit requirement for UC eligibility then please find me the proof of this as I have done. Cite me a legitimate source (more so than the University of California’s website) that says a D grade is unacceptable to meet the minimum unit requirement for UC eligibility.

Note that the “UC eligibility” phrase is key here. It is not “specific program from a specific campus.” It is UC eligibility.

it was just a question

dont get ur panties in a bunch…

And I’d ask you to kindly please stop spreading false information ;).

kender…Overreact much?

Please, I welcome someone to prove me wrong about minimum UC eligibility :). As I am a fair person, I will gladly concede if proof can be found that I am incorrect. A little research is not difficult and adds a plethora of credibility to your statement.
