Does admission approved mean 100% you got in??

what major did you apply for dylan b?

Hey all,

First time poster here - longtime lurker (great site) and finally decided to join. Hopefully some of you will be able to shed some insight regarding Chapman’s admission process and the timetable for notification. Here’s my question:

I’m a transfer student from Saddleback College who applied for Dodge’s film production program back in March. I submitted my application the day of the deadline (March 1), which, in retrospect, probably wasn’t the wisest idea.

Anyway, my webadvisor status has read “File Complete, Decision Pending” for over two months now, and continues to say so. When I spoke with a Chap representative back in February, she told me that I could expect to receive word sometime in April. Now that we’re going into mid-May, should I be concerned that I haven’t heard anything yet? I went up to Orange a couple weeks ago to speak directly with an admissions person, and they told me, “due to the extremely high volume of freshman applicants this year, we didn’t even start looking at transfers until the third week of April.” She then gave me a tentative notification deadline of June 1st.

Judging by some of the recent posts in this thread of students receiving their admission letters (congratulations by the way!), I’m just wondering if my shot at getting into the school is getting slimmer by the day. I have a 3.7 GPA at Saddleback with 400+ hours of community service, plus a foreign exchange program under my belt. My essays were awesome, as was my application video, but I have no film classes on my transcript from my time at SC (the epiphany to pursue film was a late decision). I would like to think that I’m a great candidate for a university of Chapman’s caliber, but you never know with these things.

allwi-
I applied also on the day of March 1. I called and they said you’d know until mid-may. So don’t trip. IF anything try and send in midterm grades on your own that is what i did. I faxed that in. I also, had my counselor recommend me and mail in a letter to admission office, I did this all like a week or 2 ago.

allwi - Not being notified yet has nothing to do with your chances of getting admitted. Chapman uses the rolling admission process, which means that they look at applications in the order they were received. And since Dodge applicants have to go through Chapman admissions then Dodge admissions, it takes longer then non-dodge applicants.

I applied super early, like end of January, to dodge, hence the reason why i got notified before you. I got word April 30th and received my packet a week after. So since you applied close to the deadline, I’m sure you’ll get notified soon now since its almost approaching late May already. So with that said, keep your head up! I’m sure you will get in!! Just wait a bit more, you’ll hear soon!

carversation and korhawaus, thanks for the swift responses. I am aware of the Mid-Term Report document, but was under the impression that it only applied to incoming freshman (I was told this by a rep who came to Saddleback). Regardless, I just filled it out and will be faxing it tomorrow… It does make sense, though, since I’m currently enrolled in a statistics course. Thank you for pointing that out to me

korhawaus, rolling admission makes sense as well. It does seem a little odd that carversation applied at the same time that I did, and was already notified of his/her successful admission. I guess being naturally impatient ain’t helping matters :frowning: but I am keeping my fingers crossed. I’ve got a LOT riding on this admission

lol well maybe carversation was a non-dodge major. dont worry, you’ll hear VERY soon. :] hopefully, it’s great news :D

allwi100 hey, at least you havent gotten a rejection letter! so keep hoping, i’ma business major so hopefully the approval letter comes soo, if i get one! waiting is killing me!!! lol i think you’ll be fine you have a high gpa so thats always good!

hey congratulations carvisation, thats awesome!

Thanks guys. I’m actually doing creative producing. Just waiting on financial aid info next week and called for housing all apartments are sold out so maybe I’ll just stay at home this semester.

oh yah i was wondering about housing. i just read that online that there full. it really blows living on campus would be so awesome!

Turned in my mid-term report this morning. I’ll keep you guys posted - thanks again for all the input!

got the acceptance package in the mail today! now i gota do well on these finals so i dont loose my admissions. lol

Dylanb- where did u see on campus housing is full?

its online, but i called today and she said to still apply, maybe its different for transfer students. i’m not sure. i think a lot of people apply, and then when the 600 deposit is due dont turn it in, so then there ends up being some extra rooms. hopefully its not full though!

sweet thanks man.

and just as a note for everyone. i was looking at transfer stuff on here from last year and some people didn’t even hear of acceptance until june!!

no problem.
yah thats what i heard too. they told me that through admissions so dont sweat, im pretty sure they have got to have some housing left because people applying from out of sate wont have a place to stay unless they get housing. so hopefully!!

Congrats dylan, what you apply for again? Also, let me know how much financial aid you get.

thanks!
I applied for business administration. yah do you know how long it takes to hear back from financial aid? dude orientation week is going to be so awesome, I went and hung out with some friends at there last year, it was pretty fun

bayfilm - June, eh? That does seem to contradict everything I’ve been told by Chapman reps -

First, it was “expect word between late April and early May.”

…then “mid-May at the latest.”

and now “June and beyond”?

Gee, if we aren’t notified until summer, won’t all of the classes we need be filled already? What about merit/talent scholarships, will there be any left? Not to mention housing vacancies.

Ugh, this waiting game is killer.
