I immigrated to the United States, and the whole immigration process cost me an year where I did basically nothing, and then I spent a year in the US working for subsistence.
Spent two years out of education.

Then I turned things around, went to college and now I am interested in a competitive job like IB. I'll be 25 when I graduate from college?

Is that too old?

Another question is do the recruiters look at your high school/SAT record. I read that somewhere in the Vault forums...but I find that ridiculous. I grew up in a third world country where I did not have all the opportunities that people in America have. I didn't do well there.

I don’t think age really matters unless you sat around for the last 5 years. IB recruits mostly out of college because it’s the largest pool of readily available talent. And in the US, SAT matters, mostly b/c it is a standardized measuring stick. A good SAT helps especially if you go to some Podunk College, where your 4.0 is only as good as a 2.0 from Bendheim. For similar reasons, the GMAT and GRE (to a lesser extent) are also looked at.

And btw all your other posts have been ■■■■■■■■, which makes me much less inclined to help.

No, age does not matter too much. I’ll be older than that when I graduate. By the way, the only time SAT’s matter is when your applying for a consulting position with McKinsey, BCG etc. Trust me I speak from experience, we’re in the same position, third world country and all.
