In general (at least for Wharton undergrads) the purpose of the MBA is not necessarily for the education. The purpose of getting an MBA is a) to take a little vacation from the tough business lifestyles and b) to network a ton. That’s why it’s advisable to get an MBA at another top school (if you choose to get one) so that you have the alumni networks at two top schools pulling for you. In general, an MBA is not necessary, especially for Wharton grad, but in a lot of cases getting an MBA will be a requirement to move up the ladder, to switch careers/field or to join industry/corporate world.
