Does any one actually know someone who was rescinded?

Can anyone get rescinded based on AP scores ? I am probably going to get three 1s and one 4.

I'm pretty sure you can just choose not to send them.

in another thread, possibly this one, it said AP scores should not be cause for rescission.

I heard Duke "re-evaluates" you if you get a C or below... but I'm going to U of Chicago... and I'm getting a C in BC Calc for the semster... (unless i somehow get lucky and it gets curved to a B-)... but does anyone know how strict Chicago is about this?

Colleges use APs for placement and credit, not for admission.
They also know that an excellent student could get low AP scores due to bad teaching or illness.

1st Sem: A A A B B D- (D- in Calc)
2nd Sem: A A B+ B B F (in Calc)
School: UW-Madison

Chances admission is rescinded?

A girl I knew got rescinded - apparently she was suspended for cheating. Don't know a lot of the details.

Only know one kid rescinded. NYU about 8 years ago. I know some kids who got warning letters and started out on probation.

@Petitecoeur: Usually a single C isn't cause for concern. Unless all your other grades dropped as well, I wouldn't worry. But trying to improve the grade can only help.

@Voors: ohhh, that's an interesting situation. The fact that you already had a D- before, I suppose in some way helps. But an F of any kind if often cause for serious concern. See what more veteran posters say (I'm not at all experienced enough), but you may want to consider calling the admissions office and informing them of the situation, they usually prefer to hear it from you rather than a surprise from your transcript. Maybe talk to your counselor and see what his/her recommendation is?

Most of the time, highschools send the final transcripts that just have the year end grades on them. College are not interested in rescinding offers so if your grades are not D or failing , you are likely fine. You would have to have done very poorly to get a D for the year, if you were all right mid year. The big problem comes if you don't graduate and your transcript is held or reflects some big problem, like incompletes. You do need that final transcript. I know a number of kids who had to put off college for a year or semester for disciplinary reasons. If you get into trouble and the college finds out--usually your high school will insist that you let them know in writing of your issues, your acceptance can be withdrawn or have some conditions attached to it.

Scholarships are a whole different thing. They may require a 3.0 average and may be rescinded if you don't produce. Also any drug convictions can make you ineligible for government money.

A (regular)
A (regular)
A (honors)
B (AP)
C (AP)
D (AP)

with 4 weighted classes (a D in one of them, C last semester) and 2 As in both of my regular classes, is there a chance of me getting rescinded from the University of Rochester ?

You need to call them and ask. Better to know now rather than later.

First Semester Averages:
AP1: B+
AP2: B+
AP3: B
AP4: A
Honors: A
Standard: A

Year Averages:
AP1: B-
AP2: B/B-
AP3: B+
AP4: A-/B+
Honors: A-/B+
Standard: A/A-

My main concern is the drop from B+ to B- in the AP1 course (with a secondary concern about the AP2 course).
Would an admissions officer merely notice I had A's and B's and still have A's and B's, or would they investigate further and find out my marking period grades were A-, B-, C-, D- and rescind me? (Top college).
I'm hoping they're going through thousands of midyear and final year transcripts and wouldn't think the B+ to B- drop is a huge drop even though a closer look would show that it really is because of the C's and D's.
I'm also hoping that since one of my AP grades improved (AP3) and others might remain the same, it will balance out the drop in other courses.

And I've always wondered, what actually happens to people who get rescinded from top colleges, or any college for that matter? Do they take a year off and reapply? Go to a community college? Tell a safety they changed their mind? Get a job? Beg for academic probation?

@Person49382716, are your marking period grades reported on your transcript? If not, don't sweat it. The college wouldn't even bother to investigate.

Usually CC because one's college admission gets revoked after the May 1st common reply date.

Would a C-, C+, a B+, rest A's, 3.4 GPA for the last quarter be grounds for rescindment from Cornell?

@MadeinChina, I think you're fine. Two C's is nothing IMO.

d00zer77 : You should be okay. But call up the admissions office and talk to them about it.

Im transfering to UCSD from a CC in the fall and was wondering how likely it is to be rescinded for getting a D in Caculus, but having As and Bs for my other classes.

i've always wondered: how do colleges rescind you? by email or by letter? what do they say? are they as nice as they sound in rejection letters?

hi

these are my grades

1st semester:

ap govt: a
ap bio: b
ap calc: d
newspaper: a
ap lit:b

2nd semester:
(weighted)econ hp: b
ap bio: b
ap calc: c
newspaper: a
ap lit: c

so my gpa both semesters are above 3.0
and only newspaper isnt weighted and i'm going to ucsd i called and the lady said i have a little cahcne of getting rescinded but yeah

what do you think?
the contract says no d's in college prep a-g courses and 3.0 or above for weighted.
