DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHAT PERCENTAGE OF THE PEOPLE PASS THE CLEP TEST FOR AMERICAN GOVERMNET

WHAT IS THE PERCENTAGE OF KIDS WHO PASS THE AMERICAN GOVERMNET CLEP TESTS

I was searching for CLEP pass rates online since my son is interested in taking some of these. I did find something called FY13 Military pass rates (since many military members take CLEP exams and the govt pays for them). On this chart American Government is listed as 477 pass and 1108 fail, which is a 30% pass rate. Now there is no way to know the level of preparation that they had when they took the exams. My understanding is if you take the time to prepare properly and use sources that people recommend like REA and Instacert you should be able to get a passing score on this exam.

It is very difficult to apply the pass rates from the military to the general public. If you are not paying for a test, do you honestly think you would invest a ton of time in preparing for it? The government finally wised up and decided to make a change and only pay for the first attempt. It has been slow, but the military pass rates have seen a slight change (as I believe the service members are realizing they really should pass it the first time or they will have to fork over the money to take it again in the future). CLEP does not put any numbers in regards to the pass rate overall of their testing candidates. Really focus your studies and only worry about yourself, not comparing yourself to others, and just do your best.

I have heard that American Government is a difficult CLEP however it depends on what study guides you use and how much you’ve studied course material. REA, Instacert, and possibly AP books (like Barrons) will be able to help you.

It depends on whether or not you time it to coincide with your high school government final and whether or not you actually bought any of the study materials; the only two things you need are the Official CLEP Exam Guide and the REA Study guide for Government.

Both Histories and Governments are just flash card trivia courses; there’s no real problem-solving in any of those. I’m staring at the College Algebra section of the Official CLEP Exam guide right now and that’s another matter

Unless you have already taken the CLEP American Government exam, I would suggest holding off in telling people that they only need two items to study from. These two items will assist you, but that does not mean just these two will work for everyone. It truly depends on each person’s background and interests.

All CLEP exams are multiple-choice (with the exception of College Composition which has a mandatory essay section). Yes, flash cards will assist in studying…for some people. Not everyone studies in the same manner. Some prefer to video and/or audio series, some want to read through a textbook, some want to check out Quizlet and see if anyone has already created other flashcards covering their specific CLEP subject exam, many will look for practice tests. No matter what method is used, the point is to feel comfortable in actually knowing the subject matter.
