Does anybody have any idea?

I just wanted to know if anyone had any idea of what to do to improve their chances to get admitted to Gallatin at NYU? I applied as a freshman to Steinhardt, and wasn't accepted. It turned out to be a good thing though, because I found Gallatin's program to be a better fit for my academic goals. I will be applying as a transfer student for the Fall of 2007. If it helps, I'll give some of my high school info. too.

I graduated top 11% in my class, with a 4.2 GPA W/3.4 UW taking all honors coursework. I was VP of Future Business Leaders of America. President of Arts & Literature Dept. of my high school; Inducted into several honor societies including French Honor Society, Social Studies Honor Society, Quill and Scroll Honor Society, International Thespian Honor Society, and others. My SAT wasn't too good, but my ACT was a 25. Currently I'm enrolled in an Honors College at a local college here in FL that is ranked as one of the top 5 Honors Colleges in the nation. People who graduate from the 2 year honors program go on to schools like Yale, Harvard, Columbia, UPenn, Stanford, Princeton, etc. All my courses are honors, and have alot more work and difficulty than regular college classes. I would stay the full two years at the program, but my heart is at NYU, and in order to accomplish all that I want to by attending Gallatin, I have to go after my first year of college as a sophomore transfer, rather than a junior transfer. I just wanted to know if anyone knew how hard it would be to get into Gallatin as a sophomore transfer, and what I could do to improve my chances. And if any Gallatin student reads this, if they could tell me about the program.

Thanks guys :)

I think your test scores are your weakest link. ACT should probably be no lower than 27...at least a 30 is probably best.

I know that my ACT scores aren't the best, but believe it or not, when I called NYU after I wasn't accepted, they told me that my actual application/academics were fine, it was just my audition for Steinhardt that messed me up. And now that I'm in college, will they give less weight to my ACT scores?

i dont know allll that much about gallatin, but one thing i would think would be really important is to make very clear in your essays or whatever what exactly it is you're wanting to accomplish by doing gallatin's individualized major rather than an orthodox route, and what makes you want to do it.

but thats just what id figure.

yeah, gallatin likes to hear a lot about how your independent and self-directed. emphasize that in yout essay/short answers/whatever.
