i just received my letter of acceptance from uva and there's a hand written sentence on the bottom about "bring your tennis raquet" (i play tennis) and "intellect to uva"... and its addressed to me in my english name (not my korean name, maybe my counsellor used my english name in her letter)....is it common that somebody actually writes something like this to a student? Right now im imagining a bunch of people sitting on desks writing little notes on acceptance letters in a dark room....im rather surprised about this (that the person knew my english name, which means he/she would have had to remember what was written on my counsellor's recommendation, and about how this person knows i play tennis)...

Yeah I got something like that as well. I don’t think it’s too commonly done across colleges, but the personalisation was a nice note :D

The dean who oversees international applications tries to write a quick note on the letters to his kids.

I got a personal note as well

There’s a whole thread on the Official 2013 Group about personal messages on letters, if any of you are interested.

I meant to say the Official FACEBOOK group.
