It really irks me to read that sempiturn. Just because some random textbook says something about politics does not mean the controversy is put to rest. Basically there is no controversy to begin with. More liberals are professors than conservatives. This doesn't mean liberals are more intelligent. OK, if you want to measure intellect as the number of years in a classroom, then liberal professors are more intelligent. But I believe one's intellect is measured by a plethora of factors.

I think that textbook is seriously screwed up. It seems funny to me to hear all of this argument about liberal intelligence level. It must take a really shallow, low self-esteemed mind to make blanket statements about the intellect of other people. Doesn't seem very "civil" to me. It's a perfect example of the elitist liberal mindset that pervades our public and undergraduate schools.

"It's a perfect example of the elitist liberal mindset that pervades our public and undergraduate schools."

Talk about blanket statements.

good call. but I was just reiterating a fact that sempiturn stated was true in the earlier post.

The article states what appear to be facts. If you do like the facts, it seems to me you are "liberal", and you do not want a liberal (meaning varied multifaceted education) and that's ok. You want to hear what you expect to hear, without unnecessary intrusions and challenges, without needing to defend your perspective or think it through......easier to get an "A" perhaps.

Although, some of the conservatives seem to be whining......booh-hoo. How about a little affirmative action for Republicans!

The article seems to ape the style of the "Dartmouth Review" with less artistry, aplumb or intelligence ........ kinda "clubfisted" wouldn't you say?

Dartmouth 09 here.

-----------------------------lol
