Does Anyone Know Anything About The Music Industry Program?

im very interested in it, does any one have info other than things i can find on their website. personal opinions of it, personal experience...
anything?

thanks a lot

i know that they have really cool co-op, like some girl did co-op for TRL then TRL in London (i read it on the international co-op site)

thanks for the response

anyone else got anything?

i dont have any personal experience yet (will be a m.i. major fall 2007) but ive talked to students in it. everyone i've talked to said the co-ops are great but many are unpaid and that the program is really interesting and great for making contacts. one person said that they felt like they learned the same material in most of their classes, but i dont know how true that is. i've also been advised to add another major or minor, i guess to have something more versatile and marketable (btw a business minor is very easy to get with the m.i. major). sorry no really good specifics but that's all that i've got.

so lyrical operation, you are a senior in highschool currently that got accepted into the m.i. program? would you be willing to share some stuff about you (gpa, class rank, musical experience...all that stuff) so i can judge whether i have a legit shot to be accepted

thanks

gpa-3.8 don't know class rank but definitely top 15 %
act-27 (31 E, 32 R, 23 M, 22 S)
no organized music experience really i've just always had an extreme passion for music and have wanted to work in the business since i was like ten, i think i really showed this passion in my essay and that helped me some

alright were pretty similar in the scholastic side of things, but ive been playing music for a long time. i play drums, guitar and piano; do you think that will help? and do u have any idea as to how many people are accepted each year?

thanks again lyr-op

playing instruments would definitely help, you could even get a scholarship for playing but you have to audition or send in a video tape. i don't know how many people are accepted each year, but i'm pretty sure that i read that music industry is the most popular concentration in the music major. apply for early action and show some interest and i think you'll be fine. btw, i even got a small academic scholarship (only 5k), so i think if you have good academics and show your love for music, you'll be good.

thanks a lot lyr-op that has been very helpful info

i have a close friend there right now. She loves it and has learned a lot from the seminars they hold weekly. A month or so ago, like three guys from/representing Aerosmith came and talked. My friend is really involved in MEISA, and they go on tours to new york and stuff. they take 50-60/year and don't generally require musical background, although it helps.

due to all the recent commotion in the NEU forum, i figured i'd give this bad boy a bump...

While I'm not a music major, I did take a music class to satisfy one of my electives last year. If you get the chance, I HIGHLY suggest the music major's in here take Dr. Emmett Price for some of your classes, awesome guy.
