My school has a TERRIBLE math department... I'm getting an A In Calc AB right now, but I know nothing about calculus (terrible, terrible teacher). I was thinking of taking pre calc in college... but I'm afraid it would make me graduate later or medical schools would not like it. Please advise

Take a look at your 4 year plan, and see if you have the room for it. If you’re a biology major or similar, it should be fine. If you’re an engineering major, it’s good to see if you have the wiggle room for it–it might put you off sequence so check to make sure you can fit it in. You could also take a class over the summer to get put back on track, if you find that it will make you graduate later.

Medical schools won’t ding you for it, and it’s MUCH MUCH better to take pre-calc than to do poorly in calculus and lower your GPA.
