I am looking for programs that are in the STEM or law field and that are worth going to (not programs that just want your money and don’t help a college application)? Any help is much appreciated. Also, if you have any back up suggestions for what I can do during the summer in relation to those two fields other than summer programs that’d be much appreciated! Thanks!
In what part of the country are you looking for a summer program? And what kind of colleges might you be interested in applying to after this summer (elites, large unis, LACs)?
@lloyddobler85 Any part of the country. HYPSM type schools along with UCLA and Berkeley. These would obviously be my reaches.
same, I’m on the hunt for some summer programs too.
@lazarchester and @“udgam.yolo” I only have first hand knowledge of the one my kid did. If you are interested in top liberal arts colleges and especially Davidson, their July Experience is one of those programs which actually does give an admissions boost especially if you apply to Davidson. My D enjoyed her 2 classes taught by Davidson profs, had a fun 3 weeks and is now at Davidson along w/quite a few of her JE hallmates. The JE application requires one teacher and a counselor recommendation (one page check the boxes form) and a few short answer responses. The priority application deadline is March 2 and the final deadline is April 1. There are certainly many other worthwhile summer programs and generally the ones that are more selective to get into may be the more meaningful ones in the eyes of college admissions officials.
@lazarchester My school has a whole spreadsheet of summer programs. I’m from Arkansas so they might not all be what you’re looking but here’s a link to the STEM one because I don’t know if I can share the whole spreadsheet with you. Tell me if the link doesn’t work for you.

@LovableLegacies Thank you so much but the link does not work.
Two programs that come to mind are “Quantum Cryptography School for Young Students(QCYS)https://uwaterloo.ca/institute-for-quantum-computing/programs/qcsys”
“MIT Lincoln Lab Intro for Student Engineers (LLRISE)”. https://www.ll.mit.edu/outreach/llrise
Both due by the end of march. The second one is free 2 week residential program. Hope this helps!
ACLU’s application is still open until may I think. not law exactly, but advocacy. don’t know if this will be any help, but just thought i would put this out there!
