Does anyone know the acceptance rate for SC? as well as how many apply regular/ED

Percent of the class of 2011 from North Carolina =13% ,
Southeast (KY, TN, AL, MS, GA, FL, AR, LA, OK, SC, TX) =21%
I couldn't find the stats of acceptances or enrollees for SC alone.
Obviously being from NC helps and applying ED helps....I don't know if being from SC gives you any advantage other than for the BN scholarship--that is given to only SC and NC residents.

I don't think SC has the same advantage as NC, but best of luck man!

They told me at the information session that the acceptance rate for NC and SC students was around 36% for Trinity CAS, and the overall acceptance rate for Trinity CAS was around 19% this past year. I've heard that NC has an advantage over SC (and SC has an advantage over everywhere else but NC), but I haven't heard anything from the admissions office to confirm that.

i wonder how much applying ED factors into that, i need every advantage i can get with my low sats

That pretty much sums it up. The most recents stats I have for NC/SC admissions are from '08 and definitely outdated, but they give some idea of the boost. The NC/SC Open House should be coming up soon. It's usually after the Pratt Open House, I think.

yea it helps a little, i think the sat/act has changed a lot though lol

I have the stats for class of '10 somewhere i think...but i'm too lazy

i'll post them tomorrow

awesome, i would appreciate that

Duke has a quota in their charter, at least 15% of their students must be from instate, so there may be a slightly higher acceptance rate for students instate, but SC gets an admissions boost too.

OK...stats for NC/SC (class of 2010):

Total Applications: 1677

(36% acceptance rate for NC/SC students)

SAT Writing: 660-720
ACT: 31-32

so u think being from sc and applying ED may give me a big boost, with an sat score of 1320?

maybe....but 1320 is still well below the 25th percentile of scores for Duke. You're probably going to have to have some kickass EC's and/or pretty much be valedictorian in a top ranked high school (or you could try the ACT if you're a math person). But hey, I'm not an expert for Duke admissions (I'm a senior in high school who happens to live in Duke country...well Wake Forest country mostly, but there's definitely some overlap, and who happened to go to the Duke admissions spiel), anything can happen, just do your best and apply...the best way to get rejected is not to apply at all.

i dunno though ,its only 20 points lower than it overall. i would have a 1980, duke would be 2000. but i see your point. i tried the act, i think i got between a 28-29. i have a rank of 3 with a tough courseload, and my ec's are awesome (in my opinion at least)
