I saw on there website that the avg SAT is about 1150 but it doesn't say anything about a gpa and i just want to have an idea before i apply. I saw on collegeboard.com that they take about 59% off apps. but it doesn't have the gpa.

If you dont know what the avg HS gpa is do u think that i have any shot to get in with about a 2.9 or 3.0 around there and about 1100 or 1200 on the sat??

my gpa was about 3.1 but I got a 670 on SAT1 Math (Verbal doesn
t count much for me cause I
m international). I got waitlisted first, and then I got in the business school which is the hardest to get into at UCONN, so if your gpa is low, make sure your SAT scores are good.

My understanding is that the average GPA/class rank for successful in-state applicants at Storrs is about 3.4 (unweighted) and top quarter. For out-of-staters, it's much more difficult. If your stats aren't that strong, you can always apply, and if declined for Storrs, attend a branch campus for two years and then transfer.

I am a recent graduate of the Business School, and know people in the admissions office.....What the University looks for is at least an 1190 and 3.4. For Business they want at least a 600 in math, 3.5 gpa or higher, and strong grades in math courses.......Business is not the hardest to get into, but is one of the hardest.

If you have any questions about the Business Program, I am more than happy to assist.

3.1 GPA (UW)
~3.6 Weighted (All AP/Honors classes except a couple electives)
740 Math
630 Verbal
620 Writing
(1370 on Old, 1990 on New)

I'm currently accepted and enrolled in the Class of '11
Also in the Business School
And Honors Program
With a full tuition (Leadership) scholarship
(Instate)

They originally rejected me... called them and asked why... their reason was that the admissions officer who read my file didn't like it but then the head of admissions decided to personally review my file.
Then they overturned their decision and offered me the scholarship + business school admittance + honors program. Talk about from one extreme end of a decision to the other...

My trend is overall upwards... freshman year at a public CT HS was okay, B's and A's...
Sophomore year at public CT HS was horrendous, despite being Honors/AP classes... I got three C-'s, a C+, B, A- (and A in gym but that doesnt count)
Transferred to a private CT HS after sophomore year... repeated sophomore year
Although being in Honors/AP classes again... I had two C-'s on the transcript again...
Junior year was better.... A's and B's in Honors/AP classes (Two C+'s)
Senior year was best... all A's and B's. (Every class except one was AP)

Other notable things:
100+ Community Service Hours
4 Varsity sports (Two = 3 years, One = 1 year, One = 1 year)
5 Extracurricular Clubs/Activities
Work Experience, Had a couple official Internships
Multiple awards spanning from science to fine arts

I only got into three of the ten universities I applied to, got deferred and ultimately rejected by my #1 (UNC-CH) and NYU. My sophomore years really hurt badly. It's not true when people say that they mostly consider your junior/senior years...

Keep in mind even with all the extra stuff, I intially got rejected and not because of UConn screwing up... but because they didn't think I was good enough. UConn had been a safety school for me all along too... but I'm heading there next year.

It seems like it is 3.4, but you don't know if the people who have that, take the most rigorous courses and such. AVG GPA does not really tell you much.
