well, I don't hate Harry Potter. But, I am not not into it and don't know what the fuss around the book is all about.

I think it has a good concept...I mean come on...what kid wouldnt want to go to Hogwarts? I guess the people who are not really big fans cant appreciate the fantasy world jk rowling has created because they dont like that kind of literature. i think its very imaginative and creative though.

I read the HP books, but I'm not really crazy about it. x]]] I'm more crazy about Mangas. =P I hate the way they set up the movies. --; The books are fine. ^_^ I agree with dukesoph3.

Fantasy is great and all and I do appreciate what she has done, I just never understood why everyone goes nuts about it

LMAO Tiss. It's the same thing with Star Wars. >>;;; People go nuts over that. And LOTR. That one too. 0.o; Am I right?

It's just an interesting series, but it's not for everyone. I was one of those people who was like "man, harry potter sucks!" Then I actually read them (I was insanely bored in a small town of 300 with a three day weekend, every week) and got hooked.
The movies are nothing to go on though. Those are quite off from the books.
I accept if people don't like it. I just don't like it when people say they don't like it and have a) never read them or b) say they're children's books. If you haven't read them, you have no room to talk. It's like people who don't vote (and can) complaining about how the gov't is run. As for being children's books - yes, they are. There is nothing wrong with reading children's books though. My grandmother is a firm believer that if you don't revisit your childhood, you'll grow old faster with the laughter dying out of your heart. Not sure if this is true, but it gives me an excuse to read them. :) J.K. Rowling isn't an amazing author - but the plot is very good with good writing. Her grammar and word choices aren't great or amazing, but good enough to carry along. I read enough "scholarly" crap, I like my magikal world.

I read the first book but never really got into it so I haven't read any of the other books. The first one was okay, but just not the type of book that I'm interested in.

My friends think I'm strange because I a) Haven't read all of the Harry Potter books b) Haven't seen any of the Star Wars movies, and c) Have never finished any of the Lord of the Rings books or movies.

=] LOL CDN_danger. xD Same thing with me. Whoa we have strange friends don't we?

SNEAKiie, glad to hear I'm not the only one out there :)

lol yea same here.

Honestly I feel like Im alone here. I was talking to someone and told him that I didnt like HP and hes all "Dude you have no soul. You are dead inside." I just never liked the damn books everyones goin nuts about. My gf said that "harry potter is the hottest fictional character alive." What is with everyone? Its just another stupid idea that some lady is cashing in on like crazy.

get a new gf!

i hate HP. When i saw the movies, I left the theater feeling empty inside...waste of money and time.

Get a new gf? Dude that's harsh just because his gf likes HP. o.o;

perhaps. sorry.

never read an Harry Potter book and don't think i'll be reading one in a long time. It just doesn't interest me that much.

My best friend loves the Harry Potter series, but I could never get with the fantasy thing. Even when it came out in 5th grade, when our teacher read the first book to us, I was like "Okay, I'm not feeling this..." But hey, to each his own.

I think you have to read the first two or three to really get hooked. I remember only sorta liking the first one, but I LOVED the second, and the third may be the best one she's written.

=] It's ok Wabash. I forgive you. =] I like the fourth one the best.

I only recently figured out that Rowlings was a female....I know. i'm quite.....

It's okay that some people are not into Harry Potter, after all not everyone is into fantasy novels. But I think it's really pathetic when one says "HARRY POTTER sucks!" or criticizes the series in a variety of ways when they haven't once opened the cover and read the books. It gets worse when one doesn't want to read them just because they think the books are children literature and that they themselves are too intelligent and literate to read them. sighs If all books are judged like that by everyone, I'd be very disappointed. Personally, I'd read all genres and levels of books as long as they are entertaining and interesting to read, otherwise I don't care a damn.
I think that Rowling has a very original idea for a magical story. I mean...for those who are fantasy readers, consider how many original fantasy plots we have in the published books that are now sold in storewide. Most of them more or less follow the Lord of the Rings path (band of fellows going on adventure, set in a magical land.) Rowling follows similar ideas but she twists them in such a way that I don't think many can earnestly imagine them out. Her writing is improving by the years and the books and characters are growing like we do. I personally wouldn't go nuts with the books (I have read lots of other great fantasy series) but I think Rowling's HP series is amazing nonetheless.

lol ultima

i love harry potter so much, and its sad how some people use the excuse "they're dumb childrens books" as a reason for not reading/liking them.

and really, you cant say you hate it unless you have read all of the books (because it does start out slow in the beginning of sorcerors stone... so u have to give it a chance)

yes i agree with dragonreborn, its really really stupid when you walk around saying how much you hate harry potter. it makes YOU you look like the stupid one to all of the people who enjoy it a lot (like me, and a heck of a lot of others)

im just saying, dont ruin everything for us. we understand you dont like it, now either give it another chance in the future, or just let it go. dont call us fools

okay, with that
HARRY POTTER RULES!!!!!!!!
