Does bc calc cover topics on SAT math level II?

well, i'm a sophmore right now taking trig. i'm skipping precalc and going straight into calculus bc next year. do you think is a good idea? I have no precalc knowledge. but i'm more concerned if calculus bc covers all material on math level 2 SAT. and, does Calc bc review everything you need to know for the course?

Not sure why you insist on asking test prep questions on the Admissions forum, there’s a forum specifically for Subject tests…

There is no calculus on the Math 2 test. Skipping pre-calc to go to BC is probably not a good idea. Why would your school even allow this?

You definitely shouldn’t do this. It might be ok to go into Calc AB without Pre-Calc but BC???

Yeah, there is no way you should be talking Calc BC without Precalc, your sanity and grade will most definitely suffer.

Precalculus and trigonometry are important knowledge to have before taking calculus. These topics are also the topics in the SAT subject math level 2 that are not also in math level 1 (no calculus is in either SAT subject math test).

The majority of the math 2 questions are pre-cal level so you would be making a big mistake in skipping it…additionally depending on your skill, unless you are a child prodigy you will get boned in Calc BC without pre-cal…the class is even difficult to those who have taken pre-cal…

At my school some sophomores decide to take Calc AB after taking pre-calculus over the summer. Around 70% of the time these sophomores do very poorly in said class. The “new math” you learn in a calculus class is not very difficult mathematically -conceptually is a different matter :). However you need a very strong foundation in algebra and trigonometry to really master calculus.

change of mind. i’m taking calc ab next year. going into bc isn’t a good idea. so will calc ab cover everything on sat ii math?

AB will not be covered at all on the sat2 math either. sat2 math is algebra to precalc. A good choice to go with AB though, you should be able to do well there.

There’s 0 calculus (even pre calc) on Math ii. It only goes up to Algebra ii/trig. I skipped AB and went pre calc to BC and I did ok but Ive never hard of anyone skipping 2 classes. Algebra ii and calc bc are completely different classes. You will not do well I guarantee it.
