Does being in a "Crew" count as an extracurricular?

Seriously, don’t laugh. I have a group of people that I hang out with, and we actually do a lot of stuff.

MC’ing, Producing: we’re actually semi signed. Not to a major lable, but a local teen center sponsors groups in the area, and we get free studio time, etc. We dropped two CD’s so far.

Graffiti/art: I actually graffiti extensively. Not tagging per se, but we enter our tags into art shows and school exhibits, competitions, etc.

T-Shirt business: I do most of this. Its my label, but I make stuff for the crew too. I make a couple hundred off of this. I’m pretty serious about this too, its not some iron on t-shirt business.

So, would this be worth mentioning on our app?

Maybe send in a tape with my app? haha

Thanks

Listing your "crew" as an extracurricular is definitely unconventional (and not necessarily in the positive sort of way that you want to be in terms of college applications). It's all a matter of presentation. You can present your activities in a better light by, for example, listing the first two separately as extracurriculars, and the last one as possibly a job if its something you somewhat regularly do.

yea i would stress the activity part, not so much the crew part

I might mention that the word "crew" is not clear. In college, crew is more likely to be taken to mean the rowing sport.

haha yeah thats what i thought when i saw this post. i was like, duh! of course it is!

Why do you need to mention it as a "crew" arn't they sorta...friends?

sounds more like a gang if you ask me, just mention the activities.

It sounds kind of sketchy, like a posse or something. I would mention those separate activities rather than "a crew who graffitis."

sounds cool, the cool urban hip youths unite and graffiti the town up...makes for one good movie...I mean application.
