hey all got a quick question here. For your ECs on college apps, is it okay to put sports you did OUTSIDE of school? For example, I played baseball my freshman yr outside of school on a team/league type of thing. Same for crew/rowing this year (but did school's crew/rowing last year). Is it ok to mention them all? Should I distinguish in any way? Thanks

Yes. I play club ball and am on a traveling team, in addition to m school one, so I just put them as separate entries. I guess it could also show more dedication...like how some people play instruments at theatres but are also in their school's band.

I wouldn't distinguish them. I just put them under "Rowing." One year my crew canceled fall season due to limited funding, so I dragged a bunch of teammates to row at a local club. It'll be fine.

bump... hoping to hear more feedbacks :)

I've been dancing for 14 years (mostly outside school), so I included that in my college app. I would include it if it's significant to you, especially if your team was successful in a league or something.

Of course you can include them! I would put each sport under one heading (one for crew, one for baseball), but in the description somehow indicate involvement with the a club separate from the school.

don't even try

Absolutely.

(over 10 years of gymnastics outside of school for me - over 14 hours a week most years; it would have been ridiculous not to have included such a major ec for me)

Yes, my D was a recruited athlete (ivies etc) and it was all outside of school.
