Does anyone know if the admission counselors take that into consideration during regular admissions?

anyone know the answer?

Guess it depends on how many top students want to attend Emory from your HS, and what the selection process was at your HS. Each HS gets to nominate up to four.

The nomination by itself will likely make sure you are fully considered for admission but is unlikely to help an otherwise unqualified candidate.

In some schools a fair and competitive process may make sure that only outstanding candidates are selected, in other schools the selection may be more political and reflect the most connected students, not the most qualified. Obviously Students selected from a large pool of competitive students by a fair and open process will likely be highly qualified not only for admission, but for a chance to be chosen a Emory Scholar (PS: Same principal holds true for other selective nominations from other schools).

I know a HS that one year had many of the nominations (for other programs) go to the children of parents who volunteered at the schools guidance office, none of the kids were ever selected by the colleges for the special programs or awards.

From our personal experience, no, being nominated for Emory Scholars does not impact regular decision admissions; in fact, I don’t even think it impacts early decisions…but if Emory is your first choice, ED is definitely the way to go…
