Does Brown accept SAT scores taken in college for transfer students?

Hi everybody!

I want to transfer to either Brown or U of M for the Fall semester of 2020, but my high school stats are pretty bad. I had a 3.9 UW in high school for my freshman and sophomore year, but dropped out in my junior year due to health reasons. My SAT was only a 1330, and I didn’t prepare nearly enough for the test. I’m confident I could bump up my SAT into the score ranges of both schools, but I already know U of M doesn’t consider SAT scores taken in college. Does Brown have the same policy? I’ll only have around 42 credit hours completed ( hopefully with a 4.0) by the time transfer deadlines roll around. I’m studying at a University in Michigan that is not U of M or MSU. I know how slim the acceptance rates are for both schools, so I’m just trying to figure out how to make my application as competitive as possible. Thanks so much in advance!

Here’s what Brown’s website says:

“Applicants can satisfy our testing requirement with either (1) the redesigned SAT (the essay section of the SAT is optional.), (2) the ACT (the writing section of the ACT is optional.), or (3) the pre-March 2016 SAT. These requirements apply to all applicants, domestic and international, with the exception of domestic applicants applying from domestic community colleges.”

I’m also applying for transfer to Brown (but not for Fall 2020) and I didn’t retake my SAT. I heard that they care more about your grades in college than HS performance. If I were you, I would just try my best during college rather than worry about the SAT  the SAT is only meant to show how “college ready” you are anyway so as long as you have good grades, you should be competitive.

Wishing you all the best
