I recently applied to Bucknell Regular Decision and was wondering if they take legacy into consideration. I know some schools only consider legacy if you apply early decision so i don’t know if Bucknell is like this.
My mom, my aunt, my uncle all went to Bucknell. My grandfather (their father) was a professor there for 47 years. Bucknell’s application asks for this information so the admission officers will see all these relatives on my app.
Basically, if anyone knows whether they care or not (esp. for regular decision), let me know! I know legacy doesn’t guarantee admission but I’m just curious!! Thanks!!
I think it will be of interest to the admissions department, but you should know that at least 50% of legacy applications are declined, so it’s not guarantee. The professor tie is helpful too. Do you have any family friends who are alumni who could write a recommendation for you?
Do you really want to go to Bucknell? Or do you consider it a safety with your legacy?
If combined with a demonstrated interest, I think it helps very much. If they sense you are simply using it as a safety, it will mean little to nothing.
It’s definitely not my safety, it’s actually my top choice school, i love it there
Will you be attending Bucknell sibeall?
