Does Case give preference to OH residence?

DD is a junior now at a MSNBC's top 70 HS in OH. We are weighting the PPSP program Vs. Honor prgram at OSU.

Considering that Case is a private school and not a state school, I'd say no.

Well they sent me some scholarship app only open to OH residents. It's kinda weird though, you have to bring the teacher that gives you a rec to your interview...? It's also about leadership and I'm not president of anything so probably not going to deal with it.

teenie: are u kidding around? you have to bring your teacher to the interview?
laserbrother: how do PPSP and Honors compare. For honors, do you also get a guaranteed spot in the grad school?

Though I couldn't tell you for sure, I have read several reviews that suggest that out-of-state applicants are better off because Case wants to improve its reputation and diversity.

Leadership and being a club president are not the same thing - that is why it is written like it is. Your teacher may also like the idea - they are being recognized, too! I believe that the teacher visiting may be optional. I think you should give it a shot.

If your D is in the top ten percent of her class, OSU honors is going to be pretty much by the numbers. When my son was looking at schools, we attended an OSU honors info session; it seems that even if you are not in the top 10%, they will look at SAT's and other factors (at least this was true in fall of 2004). The honors college has, I believe, an earlier application deadline than the rest of OSU, so be careful to apply early!

From what I gather, PPSP is more difficult to obtain. If your D's school has a good counseling department, that will definately be to her benefit the GC will be able to present her case more strongly.

OSU and Case are vastly different places; visiting will provide some additional perspective.
